Sounds like a good idea. But, to be honest, with the exception of the M1 build, which I was extremely grateful for, it seems that no one in this forum is interested in anything but WWII. If you opened it up for modern stuff as well, it’d be a good thing. I’ve got my Trumpeter Chally 2 waiting to be built.
This sounds like a great idea. I could b a possible for this one but dont know if i will be in the UK or not. Anyway r there any Marmon Harrington Armoured Cars around in 1/35?
I will probably join later I’ve always wanted to build a Cromwell or Archer (anyone still make that kit?) I’m in three other GB’s right now but I will probably join this after I finish a couple of them.
Peter:
hiya!
thanx 4 thinking of me…[:D]
i’ve got at least a couple of kits on the stack that would do 4 this build…
i’m in a few other GBs, but i like the idea of this one too,
so depending on the time frame, i mite just b able 2 commit 2 this.
please let modern afvs b included, ok ?
i need a good reason 2 finally build my Challenger ! [:D]
T3488g - S-Models is about the only Ram left on the market and it is a real dog. If you were thinking of getting it from Military Hobbies, the last time I checked it was out of stock.
Peter - My vote is to include all Commonwealth manufactured vehicles regardless of when they were made. Sept 17 sounds great to me !!!
OK, sign me up – I think you suggested a mid-September start date & that works for me – just tack on 3-4 months for an end-date, I work slow …
I’ll commit to a subject as we get closer to Sep – I have things I could do right out of the stash, but have some things I want to do more & I need to research options. I do know it’ll be WW2 Western Desert unless I get wrapped up in something WW1-ish or between the wars.
Okay, lots of nice people out there taking the time to look at this GB and have a say. Seeing as a few of you asked so politely to add the modern stuff ( Although I plan to do a WW2 vehicle I do have a Tamiya Challenger 1 with Verlindin GW1 add on, the Academy Warrior MCV and both of AFV club’s Scimitar and Scorpion’s so I’m not just a WW2 guy) how about we look at a build as follows:
Main Theme: Any British or Commonwealth designed and Manufactured Armoured vehicle, softskin vehicle, Artillery (SP or towed ) or Figurines of any soldier in British or Commonweath uniform.
Period of operation: WW1 to modern day
Scale: Any
Build type: Can be Out of the Box or Modified
Markings: To be of a British or Commonwealth (at the time that is, so Indian regiments during WW2 are okay) vehicle, gun, etc.
Medium: Any (Plastic, Resin or other all okay)
Start Date: 17 September 2004
End Date: 31 December 2004
Ok, i started a hasagawa Crusader III tongiht in 1/72. I was going for out of box, however i think i will add new headlight guards made of fine wire.
I’ll post soon, but this looks like a fun little kit.
Any good sugestions for british paint in north africa?
Bill
you all know me too well[:D][:p]. the s-models ram is still out of stock. i might have to change my build… i did see a ram kagaroo kit on some site, around $150 i think!!! probaly american dollars too.[:0] now what will i build…
I’m not sure about subject yet. All of the British/Commonwealth stuff on my project list is Sherman-based–a Firefly, an Achilles, and a Kangaroo–but that’s okay. I kinda feel like if I’m going to do a model for a group build, it should be one I’m doing for the group build, not one I was planning to do anyway. There’s just a sort of zen rightness to it.
That or the paint fumes are getting to me. [:)]
At this point, I’m leaning toward a WWII armoured car of some kind, although there don’t seem to be many kits available. Anyone have any suggestions?
EDIT: I must have gotten the Google keywords right today. Put me down for an Accurate Armour 1/35 Humbar Mk I scout car.
