Are MPC model kits (1/72 plane) any good?

I want to build a Henschel Hs 129 Tank Buster airplane.

I’d love a 1/48th scale, but I don’t think I have toom to build it (do they even exist?) so on ebay is this kit:

made by MPC. I tried googling for reviews, but found virtually nothing on them (other than they are out of business and may have been re-packs of airfix kits)

So…long story short (too late!), is this kit any good?

From my experiences with 1/72 MPC kits, I’ve found that they’re simply re-boxed Airfix kits. Now I don’t know about the HS-129 because I’ve never built one, but I don’t really like Airfix. Hasegawa makes a 1/48 scale HS-129 that’s a pretty good kit and really isn’t that big. Most hobby shops should be able to get one for you.

All I have by them is a TBD Devastator in 1/72 and for an old non-tamiyagawa kit it’s seems pretty good.

I dont know about MPC, but maybe you would like to build the 1/48 hasegawa kit.

The Hasegawa kits are the way to go. They have three or four different versions of the Hs-129, and most are about $30 US. Also, to get good reviews of just about any kit made, go to either www.hyperscale.com , or www.aircraftresourcecenter.com . Both sites have excellent kit reviews and modeling tips.

well the MPC kits are old Airfix kits in 1/72,and old Esci in 1/48 just packaged for the American market back in the 1970’s & 80’s, some of the kits are really great and some are just cannon fodder, I’ve built the HS in 1/72 scale years ago and it’s a fairly desent kit and would recommend it for the typical modeler but if your like me and a detail junky then there are detail kits from Eduard and Airwaves to make it a really nice kit, but AMTech has the 1/48 scale molds now and they really made it a very nice kit but a little pricy but I think it’ll be worth it

Thanks Cuda. I’m going to start with a “simple” one, and then gradually expand my scope. I haven’t built a model in decades, so I’ll start from there.

for the there it’s used for a place not people, also it’s our unit’s phrase for when we where in Afghanistan & Iraq, and being in the military we really don’t have and intelligance either, remember the auximoron military intelligence?
