Hello: I bought some Archer transfers (Arabic Language) that I’m putting on a road sign with a green background. When rubbing on the transfers, there is a surrounding film (carrier film I suppose) that also rubs off with the item. It’s just like when you have that extra clear decal material around an item for water slide decals. Anyway, this extra film is very visible, especially against the green background.
Is there any way to remove the extra film without removing the transfered item (the arabic word) and without removing paint. I tried erasers, Goo Gone, Plastic Cleaner, softly scratching it off, all with little success. The Archer web site suggests “rubber cement thinner”. Anybody try this method, and will it remove paint?
I also tried transfering items over a gloss surface and flat…with the same problem.
The other thing that I normally do if I’'m to lazy spraying Future is to trim the area which you dont need, in this case the carrier film you mentioned.
Once that area is trimmed/eliminated then you wont have to worry about the silvering effect.
Unfortunately this method only works for simple decal design such the german cross or the american star.
I do that too with large or simple decals. But the Archer Transfers I’m using are Arabic script and would be very difficult to cut around. I may end up trying that, but I’m hoping for something simpler! Thanks for the advice.
jhawk,It’s ironic that I was reading about that very topic last night. Unfortunatrly,if it wasn’t on the forum,Then I dont know where.Tamiya’s new military vehicle only Mag.Again , what issue, ? .What was recomended was 1 of the decal setting solutions.Applying over area of where the decal will go,then on the decal itself. Hope this helps.I’m tring it today too !!! rudedog
