Archer transfer 1/48 news

Archer Fine Transfers has said that they are going to be releasing transfers for the new Tamiya scale. They will be first releasing Sherman transfers – probably by the end of this month. Next month will see transfers for the German kits (Tiger, Hetzer, early Stug).

I assume they will track the new releases (American TDs, T34/76) and release transfers for them too. Where’s that IS-II, Mr. Tamiya? [:)]

That’s good news! Thanks for the update, Larry.

There’s also a company in Korea called HOBBYDECAL that’s released a nice 1/48 “German/US Vehicle Special” set, which includes a ton of transfers for Tigers, Shermans, and other German and Allied vehicles. Nice, big set, all for about $16 USD. I picked up a sheet a couple of weeks ago.
I haven’t tried this link, but it was on the package:

UPDATE:
The Hobbydecal link is the decal site, but the 1/48 armor sheet isn’t on there yet. Maybe it’s too new.
These guys had a booth at that big hobby event I went to in Shizuoka a couple of weeks ago. They even let you try your hand at transferring the transfers! They work very well, and look great.

Are the 1/48th scale armor transfers also dry transfers, or are they decals?

By the way, look at the surface texture on the Tamiya Hetzer on that first site you linked! Love it – particularly on such a small vehicle.

As I mentioned in my post, they are transfers. Dry transfers, not decals.

Yeah, there is some great stuff on that site!

Ok, thanks. “Transfers” is the UK way of saying “decals.”

I did not know that!
Weird, wild stuff!
You learn something new everyday. Thanks, Larry.

Anybody still call 'em “stickers?” [;)]

I think that in the UK, decals are basically that – the self-adhesive stickers you put on toys. (Mebbe someone can correct me on that one if I’m mistaken!)

With Tamiya apparently going full bore into 1/48 scale Armor, I would imagine it’s just a matter of time befor all the AM boys get on board.
