I finally got around to trying Archer’s rivet decals on my current project, and am quite pleased. Despite my being lazy and not glossing the model, the decals applied easily and tolerated rough handling during a few “oops” repositioning moments. The rivets are printed on a continuous carrier film, so you need to cut out what you need. I quickly learned that cutting close to the lines of rivets was the way to go.

The decals responded well to Micro-Set and Solvaset, which was a relief. Good quality stuff.

Archer decals are expensive, but they allowed me to do something I couldn’t do by myself. I have another “shelf of doom” project that will require thousands of rivets, so I at least have one solution.

I have used them on scratch - built ships with a great deal of satisfaction . I think as you use them and get comfortable with them , you’ll like them even more . They even have curved pieces for unusual shapes . I got them from our Museum supplier .

I got paint on the underside of my F-1 model, and the rivet effect is pleasing. I am sold on archer’s rivets!

I used to occasionally make rivet detail from punctuation marks in dry transfer lettering sets (periods, semi-colons, etc). Unfortunately, dry transfer lettering is getting harder to find these days of ubiquitous word processing software :frowning:

Wow, that must have been extremely tedious! The Archer decals by comparison are easy to use, and thus are perfect for lazy bums like me.

Yeah, it was tedious, but the Archer decal stuff wasn’t around yet. Archer was (and is) big in dry transfer stuff too.
