Archer Fine Transfer Surface Details

Greetings,

Has anyone had any experience with the Archer Fine Transfer Surface Details? I’m particularly interested in the panels.

Thanks

Dave

I dont know what they are but I’m curious. Or is this something for the jet guy’s?

I don’t think it’s limited to jets at all. The fuel caps, panels, access panels, rivets, appear on WWII aircraft as well.

ASk in Armor,
Archer do weld beads, casting marks rivet lines, surface textures, all sorts of goodies.

Good reviews, but can’t remember where…

Great product! Using them on my current B1B for raised details and access panels. apply and prime and paint. No problems to date.

I bought the WWI stitching set recently and it looks pretty good. It is sort of more a raised detail, less like a decal. The store owner said most of his guys are using this stuff under the paint to create a raised detail. Natch’.

I just received two sets of 1/48, 1/32 transfers in the mail yesterday; 1 set of access panels and piano hinges and 1 set of dzus fasteners, screws and rivets.

I haven’t put them on my P-40 yet but am planning to use the rivets, a panel or two and a fuel cap. They look really nice, especially the rivets, and I can’t wait to try them. The panels look great too, a lot of different shapes, sizes, styles, etc. including fuel filler caps.

I bought them online from the Archers website, service was great and shipping was very quick, got them in less than a week, and I live in Germany.

Check out there website, they have a lot of stuff and I think you can order a free catalog as well.

Hope this helps.

Sigh… *shakes head sadly and walks back to bench, pondering the imminent demise of the “Creative Gizmologist”…

And here I thought only photo-etched weld beads were over the freakin’ top…

It’s going to be okay Hans. When I think of all the times I’ve repaired raised rivets with texture paint, doing them over and over again, and having results only good enough that they aren’t distracting at the end of the day, the idea of consistent raised rivets that can be accomplished in minutes rather than hours sounds good to me. Besides that texture paint never gets used up before it dries out and ends up in the landfill. This just seems like a better alternative in many ways. Now I can devote some of that creativity to more important aspects of the model.

Oh how we all miss the days when we could just carve an airplane out of a hunk of balsa wood.[:)]

Yesterday I applied two rows of eight rivets (from Archer Fine Transfers) to the underside of my 1/48 P-40N. It took less than 10 minutes and they are straight and look realy good. These rivets smaller than a small pin head.

With ‘creative gizmology’ I could’ve taken two hours to do this but still not have the same realistic look like I have with the Archer trasfers, and I don’t think I could ever get that look. Now I can devote more time to scratch building and re-doing the MG fairings in the wings, which so far has taken about a week, working on them for about an hour per day.

I’ll post some photos of the rivets and the MG fairings in a couple days.
