Anyone with cash to burn on a PB4Y conversion set ??

I have often wondered the same quaqmire. We probally will never know. I can say i am much relieved to see others noticing the same things that are iritating me. Ebay can be a great tool for us model builders to locate OOP kits or get a good deal on and expensive one, but just like any other tool when it is not properly used it can cause damaged. In this cases inflation prices on some OOP items an puting them out of reach for the people they were really meant for, us model builders. I am sure there are more model builders out there who are on a budget than are not. Instead they are being traded like blue chip stocks by non hobbiest to fatten there wallets. I myself have sold plenty of kits on ebay an always at a fair price. Mostly because I decided I was not interested in building these particular kits anymore. I have even given away for free a couple of kits to forum members on this site and payed out of my own pocket to ship them because I beleive that we should all stick together and not let our hobby be ruined by a bunch of profit seeking greedy buisness people. It is to late for my other favorite hobby muscle cars. I new it was all over when the Wall Street Journal ran an article on the front page about what a great investment they were. Since then I have sold all but one of my cars and have not been to a car show in two years. You muscle car fans no exactly what I am talking about. Lets not the this happen to our hobby! When we see that rare OOP kit with an overinflated price let it be. I know it is hard I am tempted to but if we do not put a stop to the stupidity where will it end? POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!

There’s only one way to bid on eBay…snipe. Bid once, bid your max, and strive for that one-second snipe. It can be done. [}:)] …and an educated consumer is a shady seller’s worst enemy.

I enjoy EBay. It all comes down to being an informed buyer and not getting sucked in to a bidding war. I search for bargains, mostly books these days (can’t…buy…more…kits…must…resist) and when it isn’t a bargain anymore, stop bidding. One thing I learned is that there will always be another one of that kit available. I saw the bidding on a rare (really) Esoteric PD-1 Vac form go to $105 for a kit that retailed new for $45. The following week I got mine for $18. I regularly get books like “in Actions” for $2-3. Also always keep an eye on the shipping amount, that’s where you can get stung too. Gary

To all of my fellow modelers who posted to ths thread and especially mkee for starting this I thank thee. I no longer feel like I am the only person on this earth who still has a functioning brain. It was great to hear that we all argee about some of the foolish bidding on ebay. And it seams all of us here pretty much agree on exaclty how to bid when using it. I will sleep much sounder tonight knowing that there are still alot of other intelligent people out there thought they still may be spread out across this world!
