Anyone with cash to burn on a PB4Y conversion set ??

Now I’ll be the first to admit to going a little overboard for something I really wanted but I can honestly say I’ve never wanted anything quite this bad. I thought this had to be a mistake till I looked at the bid history and yes, it’s over $600 USD for a PB4Y resin conversion set. It may be rare and OOP but WOW!!!

Check it out

I’m a little rusty at this so you may need to cut and paste

This may work better

$600? Six hundred dollars? For a 1/48th scale conversion kit?
Utterly ridiculous. Some people need to seek psychiatric treatment.
I’d rather be FORCED to build Airfix kits (shudder) for the rest of eternity that to fork out $600 for this resin conversion.

Wow is right! [:O] 600 bucks could keep me in aftermarket sets and kits for years to come if spent wisely.

That’s just ignorant. Let’s see, I could spent about 50 or 60 bucks for the Koster conversion and 25 for the Revell kit and probably have an easier time of it.

well thats only a leg… and an arm… and your soul.

its not THAT bad  I’d trade my soul for models

Hey, I LIKE building old Airfix kits… Lots of opportunity to show off your modeling skills!

I just think of ebay listings like this as comic relief. Like the other day I saw a Detail & Scale book for $99.00! And that’s a “Buy it now” listing too. Some people are just a little loopy.

Apparently some people didn’t get the memo about what a POS the kit is. Yes…it has a few details better than the Koster kit but the Koster kit will win every time for accuracy per dollar.

I’m still waiting for an accurate 1/48 PB4Y-2 kit. Even if I have to fill a bunch of un-scale like rivets…Trumpeter…Can you hear me now???

I checked the bidding history, and yeah, it’s two guys going at it. That helps to drive most Ebay prices through the roof.

But you knew that, right? [:D]

I don’t know if I’m reading the history correctly, but did the bidding START at around $300? That impresses (sickens?) me more than the current $600 price tag.

Ah, well. Some people just have too much money, that’s all. (Hey! Could you send some of it my way? Please?)

Sheild bidding, the seller has friends jack up the price so that the next real bidder wins.

yup, shill bidding

the one guy even bid against himself about 6 times in a row to increase over 100 more dollars

Ok, so I don’t do E-bay, but when you look at the history is not the rams guy bidding against himself? Along a similar topic my best friend just sold a piece of toast on E-bay for $30, advertising that it does NOT have the image of Jesus on it, appearantly it made it on to Leno, what a weird time we live in

HOLY COW!!! For that price it should come with the actual blue prints and piece of the real thing! - autographed!!!

I think most people take the complete wrong approach to bidding on ebay. First of all DO THE RESEARCH!!!> How do you bid on something if you do not know what it is worth. Yesterday I saw a listing for a Smer 1/48 Sm79 Listing the kit as a rare and beautifully detailed kit! Ok first of all it actually scales out at 1/50 as it was originally advertised by the original manufacture Artiplast. Second of all you would be hard pressed to find a kit that is as poor and ill fitting as this one. Then I came across a 1/48 Fujimi Me 110 c/d listing the kit as rare and out of production with a starting bid of like $20.00 dollars. Squadron has them in stock for less than that when you factor in the shipping. I myself stop bidding on a kit when it reaches about 50% of what the kit retails for. How do I know? It takes about two seconds to check on Squadron or any of your other favorite online stores. I have seen people pay over thirty dollars for a Monogram He 111 that is in stock at squadron and sells for $22.00 bucks. These people are the same idiots that have basicly ruined the mucsle car scene by paying top dollar for any piece of junk that says Camaro or Corvette on it and driving up the prices to idiotic amounts so that no hard working Joe could ever afford one now. May you all die a slow painfull death and stay out of our hobbies! Sorry guys that been bothering me for a long time and the right forum just happened to come along. With that said ebay is a great way to get good deals if you know what you are doing. Also to find that out of production kit. Sometimes these get a little pricey but just like women wait and do not overpay another one will come along. I have read several thread from other that have been paitent and found there out of production kits for a fair price. Bid with your head not your heart! Happy hunting

I like to bid on ebay sometimes. The most I pay for a kit (generally) is half price. It’s a good way to not get burned, and sit back and laugh at the idiots who GOTTA GET IT!!!

This really is utterly ridiculous!

But keep in mind that the original price was around $ 240,-!!!

I saw this auction. This is why eBay is the best thing ever for a seller…

I saw someone pay $49 +shipping for an ‘out of production’ Testors 1/48 SR-71.

Squadron has them in stock for $34!!

I bought mine on eBay for about $20 and it was a double kit, packaged with a 1/48 U-2!

Is it Ignorance, is it Arbitrage, or is it Scarcity?

The Meteor Productions multimedia conversion kit is now OOP, but there are substitutes as Swanny pointed out like the Koster Vacuform conversion kit.

I was going to build mine, but now… hmmm… I don’t know… $600 is $600. I should have purchased two when I had the chance, that would have made the decision real easy.

A few years ago , I put a set of 1/32 scale Revell P-51B decals on EBAY and the high bidder paid $135.00 for them. He and another bidder got into a bidding war, and I was the winner !!

It all depends on how bad you want it, I guess.
