I stumbled across a fantastic web site www.submarina.ru Ever see a drydocked TYPHOON? I hadn’t until today. There are some amazing pictures (color & b/w) of almost every class of Russian boat. Small problem: almost the entire text is in Russian. However, click on the third picture down on the right and it will take you to the photo gallery where each class is identified by its NATO code name which is in English. Click on the caption next to the picture of the ship you want to see instead of the picture itself. There are lots of pictures. I did manage to figure out that there is a memorial section to the boats the Russians have lost and a section devoted to the KURSK. Its very extensive. Guess I’m going to have to learn Russian after all.
Awesome site breezely! I love to model Russian subjects. Tanks, aircraft, and ships. Just finished a Kilo and I’m gonna do another Typhoon soon. Thanks for a great site.
Glad You liked it. It was the drydock shots that sold me. Its tough enough finding shots of US boats in drydock, but something like a TYPHOON? Wow! You might want to try www.bellona.no this site is in english and its really good, too.
That site is the best I’ve seen. Thanks for the heads up.
