I am going to go to Michael’s today and use either the 40% or the 50% off coupon in this week’s advertisement and buy some of the Royal Golden Taklon paint brushes.
They sound like a good paint brush and the price is right also.
Anyone else using them or another brand of Golden Taklon?

Those look like a number of brushes that I’ve used before. They shoudl be juuust fine. If you can get that assortment at a decent price, it ought to be years before you have to get another. In a shopping center about a half a mile or so from me, there is a giant Hobby Lobby right next to a giant Michaels. I might have to grab those coupons and pick up some art and modeling supplies.
I use Royal brushes a lot, but I don’t think they are golden taklon. They are good brushes though, even their tiniest ones last a good long while.
The Michael’s here didn’t have that exact same set so I bought what I was originally planning on buying, the set “TK-J” which is almost the same except this set has wood handles instead of acrylic. The acrylic handles are supposed to be better in that they don’t absorb water and swell like the wood ones can, but I have never had any problem with that happening.
It has 1, 3, and 5 Pointed Rounds, 3/0, 2/0, and 0 Detail Rounds, 2, 6, and 10 Shaders, and a 5/8" Flat. The 5/8 Flat would probably work great for brushing on Future I would think.
They are regularly $11.99 for the set so I got them for $6 with the coupon. [:D]
They seem very nice and have a snap to them when you paint with them that my Floquil Sable brushes don’t have. The Sable ones are a bit softer flexing.
I also bought some of the Masters Brush Cleaner and really like it.
This is a really good brush cleaning soap and preserver.

Mike, I use the Golden Talkon brushes for most of my utility work. The ones I have are wood handles & synthetic bristles. They are good for most tasks & relatively inexpensive. For figure painting, however, I stay with the Winsor & Newton red sable rounds.

I don’t expect these to be perfect as they couldn’t be great brushes at that price I wouldn’t think. I did a lot of online research before buying them and the concensus seems to be that Golden Taklon is about as good as Red Sable although much more durable. We will see.
Just researching paint brushes is a nightmare in itself as there are hundreds of choices out there from multiple companies. [:0]

I bought the same set (the first ones you posted) today and they are pretty good! only used one blunt tip to work some pastel shading but I liked the feel of it and it seems to stay together well. Am looking forward to playing a little more with these and see how well they do.

I went and bid on one of the sets like you have on Ebay in addition to the one I bought yesterday.
I figured I will use the one I bought yesterday for enamels and the new set like yours for acrylics. They are two different sets also so telling them apart will be easy as one has wood handles and the other acrylic. [;)]
I like them a lot so far.

I really like the ?/0 brushes in my set… I mean they have a pinpoint tip on em… kinda scared to use them in case they spread like some of the other brushes I have used… gonna get some practice on em tomorrow on the cockpit of a F4U-1A I bought today… will let you know how they do.
The blunt I used today held together just fine… no bristle spread when dry brushing (shock!) and the pastel went on even without “striping” of pigment.
I read your post and when I went to Michaels with my coupon decided to use it for them when I saw them… they had another premium Taklon set for $22, I thought getting them but they were mostly broad tips and I dont use them much… use the airbrush instead…
