Has anyone tried the kits from Forgeworld, I was looking at some of their stuff online today and they have some interesting pieces (Warhounds look exceptional). But before I drop that much cash just wanted to get someones opinion on the quality. [8D]
I’ve never heard of them. What type of products do they produce and do they have a website?
Wolfp,
Forgeworld makes some of the coolest resin miniatures around. All of their line is designed to be used with the Warhammer and Warhammer 40K series of board games as they are actually a subsidiary of Citadel Miniatures. Yes, the prices are a bit extravagant, but the detail is quite good. I would have a small problem with paying $600+ for a resin model, but that’s what you get from the specialty markets.
BTW, kaleu, the web address is www.forgeworld.com
If you need any more info about their stuff, let me know.

Thanks Demon…now all I have to do is to figure out how to convince the wife its worth it. The Warhounds are killer plus I really dig the Asuryan figure.
You should check this one out:
That is a fantastic piece
…not me but several people I know have bought stuff from Forgeworld. The quality of the modeling is obviously exceptional. You can see that in the pictures.
The casting quality hits about 99%. In other words every resin model maker in the world gets a bubble or two once in awhile but FW’s castings are probably the best in the biz.
One drawback is ordering from the UK. Normally not a problem but FW does their casting in batches so if your order gets there while they have some on the self you’ll get it pretty quick. If they’re out… you’ll wait… and wait… But when you do get your kit if a piece is messed up they (Games Workshop in general) are really good about replacing that part without having to return the whole kit. Email them first.
Here’s a US based retailer who keeps FW stuff but you have to know what you want when you go there. They don’t advertise it. And they are redoing their FW right now anyway.

The price is high but “worth it?” is relative. The overall quality is awesome and nobody else puts out stuff like this so there’s nothing to compare too. It depends on how bad you want it.
That’s all I know.
By the way, Check out the regular Warhammer 40,000 models sometime. Great designs and well made kits too. Tanks, APCs, IFVs, Flyers, robots, cannons, hovercraft. Lot’s of neat stuff. Look at any Gameshop.
Ive been painting the wh40k for sometime now, I love em, just make my eyes cross at times due to small scale. Never played the games though (except space hulk). Just started collecting the inquisitor figures, havent gotten around to painting one yet though.
You guys really should try a game of 4oK or Fantasy sometime. I’ve been regularly involved with both for about 10 years now, and it really is alot of fun to re-enact battles. Most hobby shops that sell the miniatures can tell you where to get in on a game, or they may offer demo games on certain nights. It’s definately worth looking into, just for the experience. And yes, the tanks are pretty cool, and most are based loosely on current or past tank designs.
