anyone make a 1/35 C-130 Hercules??

Does anyone make a c-130 hercules??

No, not in 1/35. Italeri/Testors did a few versions in 48th and several in 72nd. Airfix had an old Herk kit in 72nd, and there are misc small scale kits out there; the two that readily come to mind are Revell’s 1/144 (or was it 100th?, or both?) and Hasegawa’s 1/200 kit. This last one is really nice for it’s size.

But, again, no 35th kits. Actually, 32nd would be more likely for aircraft in general but with the recent trend towards 35th helos (read: Appealing to not only aircraft but armor builders as well!) if anyone were ever to release a large scale Herk, 35th wouldn’t be out of the question, what with all the diorama possibilties. Or just think of a standalone C-130 model with a buncha infantry inside, or a Jeep or… The options are many!

I have had a 1/48th herc since it was released.
I havn’t built it yet because I have nowhere to put it.
I don’t think that even the Chinese would be mad enough to release one in 35th.
I saw a prog on Discovery Home and Leisure last year about a group
at Wroughton in the UK that were building a flying Herc.
That was either 32nd or 24th scale and boy was that big!

Well tell that to Panda, they’re “planning” on releasing a 32nd B-17. And that ain’t no small fry there! [:p]

Remember, Panda is Chinese for: “Really Brave Model Manufacturer.” [;)]

Fade to Black…

Okay, someone had to do the math.

Wingspan:
1/1 = 132’7"
1/32 = 4’2"
Length:
1/1 = 97’9"
1/32 = 3’
Height (at vert stabilizer)
1/1 = 52’8"
1/32 = 1’8"

Hey! just had a thought. Check around in R/C plane circles. Someone may make a Hurc’ body in something close to that scale. It’ll give you a place to start.

A 1/35 scale Hurc would be a pretty fun scratchbuilding project. The fulelage wouldn’t be to hard and a lot of parts could be gotten at the local RC shop. A little fiberglass on the nose and you are done. Did I oversimplify?[:p]

Uh… No. Not at all.

Fade to Black…

Well if anyone wants to go the ‘scratch-built’ route there’s no shortage of plans courtesy of our R/C cousins. Here’s a place with Hurc’ plans in three different scales 1/12, 1/18, 1/28 (can you imagine). Adjust the scale and you could build a pretty nice 1/35 from these.

You know, looking at these has almost given me the R/C “itch” at least for these big four-engined butes. Good thing my pocketbook is keeping me firmly grounded in reality.

Even a 1/72 scale Hercules would be a good-sized model! (I would like to build one someday; it would be converted to a hurricane hunter.) After all, the real thing is a huge plane! I almost think the scale conversions by MightyRumba sound a little small; perhaps 1/48 scale? (Maybe I’m wrong.) Anyway, a 1/32 scale Hercules would probably take up half my living room!
