I need some really good close-ups of Mk 82’s with extended fuses as I am trying to modify the ones that came in this Monogram kit.
I have found a few good pictures online but none are up close enough where I can see the ends of the fuses to see how they are shaped.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have looked at practically every page that Google found in a search including that one you posted. Which is an excellent site by the way. [;)]
I guess there are no real close-up shots of the fuse itself on the web, but there may be one I haven’t found yet.
I did find one site that had a photo but it would not allow a right mouse click to save it. [:D]
To convert a standard bomb into a Daisy Cutter, a thirty six inch extender pipe was used. One end was milled down and had external threads cut into it so it would screw into the end of the bomb. The other end had internal threads so the standard fuse would screw into it.
The same fuse was used for each version. The picture maddafinga posted is a good view of the fuse. The arming wire was clamped to the extender.
I have used brass tubing to simulate the extender. I then used very thin telephone wire strands to simulate the arming wire. Tape was used as clamps.
