Before I have a go at a scratch built Hancock, I want to try a plank on frame kit first. I was thinking either the Hannah or Oneida from The Lumberyard for Model Shipwrights http://www.dlumberyard.com/ , but was curious what to expect. I’m leaning towards the Hannah, because of the Harold Hahn connection, but that’s all I know. TIA.
I’ve never actually looked at one of these kits first-hand or done business with the firm, but it seems to have an excellent reputation. Back issues of Ships in Scale have some articles about Lumberyard products, if I’m not mistaken.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Good luck.
I’ve never seen their kit in person, but have bought wood and assessories from them. If the kits are like their wood as far as quality, then I’d try one. They are great people to work with and were really patient with me when I was doing a special order.
