Well, about 2 weeks ago I placed an order for their DML Viet Cong figure set. A few days later they e-mailed me with a confirmation/status report that said my tracking number was : Out of Stock. I e-mailed asking when I would get a refund, and they replied saying they were attempting to get it from another vendor. A week went by, and my order status was updated to: cancelled, so I dropped another e-mail asking about my refund. It’s been about a week and no response. I don’t get it why all these websites feel it’s fine to list products as in stock, and then e-mail you a week later saying they’re sorry but they’re out. This is atleast the third time this has happened to me while trying to get a hold off this crazy kit. So anyone have any ideas about the refund? They won’t seem to answer me.
It has happened to me also. I took awhile, but it finally came. Give it time, and pester the crap out of them!!! As a internet business they recieve many orders, and it will just TAKE TIME. Patience my young Padawan. It is said to be a virtue. Let me look around, I might know where to obtain this kit.
Wait a second! They dinged your credit card or paypal account without shipping? That’s a big no-no and I wouldn’t deal with a company that took my money without at least shipping the stuff!
This sort of stuff is why I still like to shop at my LHS, at least as long as I have one to shop at. They don’t get the money until I see the product on the counter!
Check PayPal or your credit card to see if they have charged it yet. I know both GM and Squadron don’t sharge it until they ship.
Yup, I used a paypal acount, and yes it was charged. I guess I’ll just keep obnoxiously pestering them --one of my valuable talents as a teenager-- [:-^] I pity you, Internet Hobbies.[:D]
Contact Paypal and complain to them. They should refund your account and then take it up with IH on your behalf. Go get 'em and kick their butt!
The one thing is that if your paypal account has a different email address than you used in the order, a lot of vendors seems to delegate the order to Limbo. Or the checking account name is diff/. I’d bombard them with the pertinent info.
Next time get from an reputable internet hobbies company will be advised.
hmmm. I’ve had nothing but good fast service from internethobbies. But then again nothing I’ve ordered has been out of stock…
I do a fair amount of business with Internet Hobbies, and have never had a problem with them or their service.
In fact, they were the store that helped me out a few months ago by opening a kit (while I was on the phone) and checking to see if a missing sprue (from the DML late StuG IV ) was in their kit. I’ve got at least 5 kits, some PE, and extra tracks sets from them.
I have visited the store–it’s about 20 minutes from my parents house–my old home–in Pennsylvania. The guy who runs it seems like a decent chap; gray-haired and with two little old Maltese dogs that he lets wander the store. They’re adorable! They have a good selection of PE and AM stuff, and I usually wind uo walking outta there with a bag…[:-^]
Sorry to hear you’re having a problem with them; I’ll continue to use their service, as I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them.
Not sure about the whole refund thing but I believe I saw that kit on the shelf at the local hobby shop the other day. They do have a website and they do, do mail order. Bridgetown Hobbies and Games. I don’t have the web address off hand although I think it’s something like bthobbies.com or something. If you just lookup bridgetown hobby you should have no issues. It’s located in Portland Oregon. You can even call, and make sure they have it in stock, they will go look ont he shelf, and probably pull it down and put it behind the counter immediately if you wanna order it over the phone.

Thanks guys, and Fantacmet, thanks for the tip!
Actually I found them quite reasonable - for an online hobby shop, that is. I think they’re all a little difficult at times (Greatmodels, Lucky Model, etc)
