A little something like this…

I"m familiar with the HG Zaku, but I was really interested in the Type 61s and some of the other stuff. Has anyone built it? Is it worth it? Thanks for the help!

My opinion is to get the set if you can
I have, but i didnt build the Zaku itself. I used everything else for a dio for a Gelgoog instead.

Looks like the Type 61’s are detailed pretty well, as are the hoverbikes. Was that your impression? Nice Gelgoog by the way!
I did do some small mods to the tanks and hover bikes. Sadly i didnt post any pics of that process. but if you take a look at this pic, you can see that i replaced the “cage” around the back of the turret with wire instead of the solid piece it was before, and added some “ammo boxes” around it as well. Other than that i found them very detailed for the 1/144 scale that they are.

The only mods i did to the hover dudes was to remove the “legs” and replace them with wire as well.
I would actually get this kit again just for the tanks.
Nice work and tanks for the info (sorry, I couldn’t help it). I think I’ll put this kit on my list, I was looking for a Zaku anyway and the tanks put it over the top.
I have built this kit. The Zaku resembles the old version of the kit–that is, not very detailed, but the Type 61/M61A5s are fun little kits in thier own right. The barrels will need to be drilled out, which I did with an exacto-knife.

sorry about this next pic, it’s the only I have of my Zaku (in Progress pic):

and for comparison, a Perfect Grade 1/144th Zaku:

So, you can see the difference in detail. Although the Zaku is really fun to build and detail, I prefer the tanks themselves, since they are little gems on thier own. By the way, the Explosion pieces included to show the tanks “blowing up” are fiddly to align and wouldn’t sit flat on the tank, but add a fun bit of detail to the kit.
Best of luck, and post pics soon.

Hooray for Izzydog! I’ll post pics of the tanks, hoverbikes, and stuff when I get to building them.
