Run away. They are garbage. If you paid 15 cents for them you paid too much.

Hey Cuda,

For starters, I got a bunch of these kits as gifts, but the gift giver got them at the local dollar store. From what I understand, they were made by an Israeli company that has gone under, but their kits are still on shelves at dollar stores all over.

There’s a good rec.models.scale newsgroup thread archived at Google:

FWIW, I built the 1/72 scale (although mis-labeled as 1/48 scale) Spitfire Mk.V. It was a pretty sorry model that required a lot of putty and sanding. But I got to practice filling and sanding techniques on it and it turned out looking okay. I gave it to my father. He loves Spitfires. :smiley:

I’d recommend that if you do buy one, use it to practice new techniques.

I bought a Starfix “A-4F” which is really an A-4A/B. It was 1/72 scale and I did pick mine up in a Dollar Store. I built mine for fun and I bought 2 more for my boys to “bulid”. They are too young to anguish over “inaccuracies” like the rest of us jaded builders are!

Starfix was created to make Lindbergh look like Tamiya.

The name stands for STARt FIXing

thank guy’s;
I thought they kinda looked like to old Airfix kits but rehashed as under a newer companies name, like Airfix did back in the 70’s with their USAirfix line, and with the name of Starfix makes you think of Airfix, Sorry to put down the Airfix name but they are older kit from a time when modeling was a new hobby and there wasn’t to many prefectionist’s out there like all of us now, thanks again you saved some of my hard earned cash ($6.00), and by the way some one just out bidded me anyways

I feel sorry for the poor “winner” of that auction!

I know this is an older post, but I am so glad I found it before I wasted my dough and time! Further research verifies that these things are complete junk! Thanks!
