Do you know where I can get replacement filters for this booth type? How much do they cost? I had contacted the seller at Amazon but he’s clueless; aparrently he knows nothing about this booth. He just sells them, he says.
This booth looks very similar to the Paasche booth, and I like the attractive price, but I’m worried about those filters.
Some booths use multistage filters that are so expensive to replace it’s not worth it.
I use a ModelExpo’s Compact Spray Booth (HSE420 - actually the Compact Spray Booth, Exhaust Hose, & Filter Combo #HSE420PRO). What I like is the way this beast folds-up into a 16-1/2" × 6" × 9-1/2" box (the spray area is 16" wide × 13" high × 14" deep).
Even better deal for just $209.99, the “Super Saver Combo” version:
HS08AC-SK - Mini-Compressor & Double Action Airbrush Set
Rather than buy one of those expensive things, and knock a hole through the wall for the vent, I have opted to spray in my unfinished basement, with windows open, and wearing a NIOSH vapor respirator mask. Works fine for me. And I usually use water based acrylics, not too toxic.
I am lucky to have a 1/2 daylight unfinished basement. I took a piece of thin (1/8" or maybe less) wood the width of the window and cut a strip just big enough to install a plastic dryer vent adapter (that normally is mounted in the wall). I mounted the circular vent/flange to the wood and then attached the wood across the bottom of the window frame. When I spray, I open the window just enough to clear the opening and exhaust the fumes outside. the wood that is mounted over the window keeps the fumes from coming back in the basement. It was way easier to do that my clumsy attempt to describe it… I should probably just make a permanent opening but, at the time - 10 years ago. I did not think we would be here this long! You could probably do the same thing in a finished room by using thicker wood and making it so it fits exactly in the window so you can “close” the window on it to clamp it in the opening. This would work in a finished room where you need something removable.
I bought the identical Paasche version for ~$120.00, shipping included & it didn’t have the hose extension-that’s a good deal, even with the $14.00 shipping. Be aware, they are rather small so check the dimensions, and the fan is noisy.
