Any one have a good site for M151 Mutt

So other than Vietnam where would they have been used in modern conflicts.Like would they have been used in Grenada

Yes, M151A2s were used in Grenada and a few were still around for Operation Desert Storm in '90/'91. They were also used by the USMC in Lebanon, US forces in the Panama invasion ('89) used them too. They were the prime military jeep from about 1972 till about 1988 or '90 and were used by all US forces during that time.

So I have the Dragon U.S Navy Seals is there a posibility of using them in a Grenada diorama. Also was Grenada a wet area because I started to weather the Mutt and it has very heavy mud on the wheels

The SEAL teams in Grenada (at least from what is available in open sources) did not use M151’s there. SEAL teams were inserted by parachute at sea to swim ashore, and directly by helicopters onto certain objectives. The Ranger Battalions used gun jeeps (airlanded after they seized Pt Salinas Airfield), and the Marines and 82nd Airborne had all their various use M-151s there as well. The weather there was wet on the 1st day of the invasion, at least in the Marine Corps area of operations. Their initial helicopter assault came in during a rainstorm onto Pearls Airport.

The scene is going to be built around the four navy seals stumbling across the Mutt, Another thing is it wet and muddy in Grenada becuase I weathered it for a muddy area

It was wet on Grenada. The initial helicopter assault by Spec Ops was done in the rain. The SEALs would not have really stumbled across the MUTT unless it was damaged or disabled. You would need to show some type of damage for that scenario. Which DML SEAL team do you have, they make 4 or 5 of various eras?

I vaguely remember the mutts in the 82nd Airborne division when I was in.I never got the opportunity to drive the mutt, but they were there. We didn’t have any in the 82nd Combat Aviation Battalion(changed to Combat Aviation Brigade in 1987).Try using the Gamma Goat vehicle in your Grenada Dio.The 82nd had plenty if those around.Pretty weird looking, but interesting.

Unfortunately, there is no model of the Gamma Goat. Its too bad too since it was heavily used by the FA as well.

Two of the SEAL elements were essentially cut off on their objectives by Grenadian forces and had to be relieved by Marine forces. Maybe something depicting this sort of action.

82nd Airborne Scout and TOW platoons had armed M151s in their elements. Regular Rifle companies would have them for logistic purposes.

This link has a good description of the Grenada operation. I know guys who could argue some points on personal experience, but overall it is fairly accurate.

Please don’t talk about the goat, it brings back maintenance nightmares. [yuck]

I wish they did have a kit. I would by two, build one for display and the other to blow up and take out frustration. [:-,]

I do agree, it would be nice to have a goat kit.

Rounds Complete!!

Watching them follow you, the goat always reminded me of a playskool pull phone kids toy…[8-]

That was pretty funny![(-D] I can remember sling loading goats with a Blackhawk. You had this little putt putt wagon that when hung from the Hawk, looked like a wagon broke in half.It made for some interesting sling loads ops.Especially at night with NVG’s on.Then again peering thru the hell hole on your stomach watching loads oscillate back and forth wasn’t my idea of fun at the time.

The Seals are the late Vietnam ones. So the Navy Seals 2

Some of the Vietnam SEALS may work. As long as you dont use the guys in the Tiger stripe camo uniform. Very different pockets on those than on the later Jungle Cammies, which are pretty similar to BDUs in pockets/layout. Uniforms in use at that time were mainly the BDU’s and the Jungle Cammies. They may also have had some of the old OG-107 Jungle Fatigues, rounded or squared pockets. Weapons would include CAR-15’s/M-16s/M-203, M-60s, MP-5’s, possibly even the S&W M-76 SMG and M-72s.

Would they have used the Stoner 63 or no

The Stoner 63 was gone by the early '80s. An M60E3 would be more appropriate.

The M-60E3 was primarily a Marine Corps weapon. The SEALS liked their “chopped” M-60s (no bipod, shortened barell) and hung on to them for awhile.

I have an chopped up M-60 but the kit also came with the Stoner would it be a possiblity that the Seals might of still used it in Grenada.

Not really. The Stoner was a short-lived weapon that didn’t last after Vietnam.
