Im getting pretty close to being done with my P-51(with the exception of the front windscreen that my lovely lady snapped in half that i still havnt found a replacement for) and I have some chalks that I want to use to create a little bit of weathering(exaust stains and such) does anybody have any good websites or pictures for reference?
thanks in advance, i honestly dont know where I would be at this point without the help from all of you
thanks man, sorry to be asking way more questions that should be necassary but what do the vacum form canopies include in the package? is it just the canopy or the canopy and windscreen?
So did you and your lady go to your LHS this past Friday?? This is what I found so far but if I were home, I could lend you more ref stuff…
Scroll down and click on “357th FG Yoxford Boys” You will see that you can pick their different sqds then from there you’ll have pix of the various Stangs.
Hope the site and some of these pix help ya out. If you need anything, just give a holler.
If you’ve got the Revell kit, go to www.revell.com. You should be able to order a new windscreen for free (they might charge a reasonable shipping rate). For a beginner I wouldn’t reccomend vacuform stuff. It’s pretty tricky to deal with
Ya I got down to my LHS me and my girl ended up spending like $100!! man I guess its back to eating from the doller menu for me I picked up a tamiya spitfire to build after my B-17 and she picked up a mustang fastback, also got a little dohicky with adjustable clamps and a magnifying glass that she was making it clear she could not live without. as well as some new blades for the xacto knife and some of the more recent copies of FSM(that i have already read through twice). thanks for the reference photo’s they really gives me something to work with and it looks like it shouldnt be too tough to replicate. just out of curiousity, what makes the vacum form canopies tricky to operate? oh and just for kicks I did the dumbest thing today, I sprayed the model with dull cote, which turned out pretty good I might add(with the exception of one of the decal stripes on the bubbling afterwards). but in the process of putting it back on the table in the kitchen after showing my girl I dropped it and even dumber instinctivly tried to catch it, snapped off the tail fin on the right side, a little super glue and it was all fixed but still kinda irked me that I would be absent minded like that. Thanks for all the help guys, and I will be sure to give you a holler butz. I tried to add you to my AIM by the way, Priest2591
Thats some change she spent… How much did you spend??[:P] At any rate I am sure you made the LHS owner happy…
Whats wrong w/ the $ menu… Have you tried their Chicken Wrap thingy yet?? WOW very evil[:D].
Your going to love the Tamiya Spit, she goes together like a gem… The Spitfire is an all around straight forward build… I built one about a year ago… Except I back dated it a bit…
I am glad that what I gave ya will help in your build(s). Thats what we are here for… By the way, my AIM is Falcon16CJ. By chance are you on Yahoo IM as well?? If so its Falcon42177.
I found a few more pix of the Stang… Plus one of my builds. She is built right from the box with the exception of After Market decals, name and nose art done by hand on clear decal sheet. Its the Tamiya P-51B.
I myself do not like a heavily weather ship, just enough to give it some character… Kno what I mean??
Any time holler… Hey does your gal post here as well?? How bout her builds??
we acctually spent $100 all together. Ya the doller menu isnt so bad, plus i can cook up a storm with not much to work with so I wont be going hungry. Ya I figure if im gonna heavily weather it will probably be for a diorama if I ever choose to build one. until then I just want it to look like an aircraft that has been flown before. As for my lil lady, she posts in automotive and also in the Powderpuff group build. She uses the name PinkChevelle
