Any Diff. Between the Hiney and the Stuart?

I would like to know if there was any difference between the US Stuart tank and the British Lend-lease version used in North Africa? I am interested in building up a Tamiya kit, but want it to be accurate, of course.

Thanks!

The Brits usually made some field mods to their M3s such as: adding sandshields, watercan racks, and stowage boxes/bins, removal of sponson machine guns, adding mounts for the sunshade/lorrie disguise along the fenders. The Tamiya kit is of the 2nd turret type and was used by the 8th Army in the Western Desert. But it has several accuracy issues if you are gonna be a true stickler about detail. If youre not gonna be too picky about dimensions, do the mods listed and replace the tracks (AFV Club makes a good set)!

have fun with it and good luck!

The Stuart was a tank.

The Hiney was easily identified. It had a crack in it.

I slay me sometimes…

Sorry… couldn’t help myself. Please return to your regular conversation.

the *Honey (*not hiney) was the name the Brits gave the M3 after testing it out on the desserts “she’s a real honey.” See Brazen Chariots by Robert Crisp.

The tamiya kit is of a diesel powered horseshoe type turret that might not have seen action with the brits, as they stuck to gas powered engines, rather than diesel. The obvious indicator of this is the pipes on the engine deck. The diesel had a longer, crooked pipe leading into the vent, where as the gas powered fed directly to the engine.

That was probably more than you wanted to know, but now you’re an expert. For a great Stuart “Honey” kit, I’d suggest the Academy one. A top notch kit with full interior, and a boat load of extras.

GOOD ONE! tOO LAZY FOR SPELL CHECK, AND PAYING FOR IT NOW!

BTW, it is deserts, and not desserts.

Where I live I eat dessert in the desert sitting on my hiney.

Desert (dry, arid region), dessert (an after dinner treat). Although they could have been talking about a honey dessert!

yes, I’ve made a fool of myself here [D)]. Lets all continue to laugh at my mistake (with sarcasm in his voice).

Yes, I know the difference between a desert (dry, arid region), and a dessert (an after dinner treat). I’ve just forgotten the importance of spellchecking.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to take a new remedial english class LOL.
