antennas

I would like to have some feedback on antenna building for afv. I’ve read about piano wire, stretched spure, etc, etc. All replys will be appreciated.[:D]

I like to use black invisible thread on my aircraft. Have you tried using paint brush bristles? I’m thinking about the kind of brushes that house painters use.

Very thin solder works well for some (available at your local Radio Scrap)

Over the years I’ve pretty well settled on stretched sprue for both aircraft and afv’s. It’s quick, easy and free. Actually on afv’s, I find that producing an antenna base that looks like what was actually on the vehicle becomes the hardest part of the operation.

I use steel piano wire myself. It is cheap to buy at my LHS, usually only a few cents and a 3ft length lasts a long time

helicopters don’t fly, they beat the air into submission

I use Guitar strings on mine

I use piano wire too. It is always perfectly straight, no need to fool around tweeking it.

I use either piano wire or bonsai wire.

For the antenna base I wind thin bonsai/flower wire around a thin stick/rod cut to size, insert the piano wire and attach the lot to the AFV.
Got that idea from an old NITTO 1/20 SF3D Hornisse Kit that used a tightly wound spring for that.

thanks for all of the input. i appreciate it.
