WHAT DO YOU USE FOR THE ANTENNA WIRE ON WORLD WAR TWO AIRCRAFT

Welcome to the forum. I use streched sprue. You can, with practice be able to stretch it to any thickness you want. When you attach it to the aircraft don’t worry about getting it real tight. After the glue dries take a match, light it, after it starts burning blow it out and use the heat from the burned head next to the streched sprue antenna wire, don’t touch it, and it will cause the sprue to shrink slightly tightening the wire. Then paint it. Works real good. Good luck.

I use very thin fishing line. It’s some kind of monofilament I bought at a fishing supplies store. It’s about twice the thickness of a hair and attaches well with CA glue. It’s also easy to paint with enamels or (the lazy way) a permanent marker.

well im back, there were about four tornadoes in the area. everytime the siren would go off, about five minuets later it would start blowing again, luckly the closest that they got were about a mile from where i was.
glad to hear your ok gunney. oddball the advice given is good. fsm has done a couple of articles on antenna wires. you might want to go through some of the online articles you might find some good info there also.

I use Invisy thread which can be found in any sewing store as trailing antenia on World War II aircraft.

I use this fishing line that’s about 30 years old. [(-D] It might be the stuff Filibert’s talking about. All I know is that it’s small, (which works great for my stuff- 1/72 everything) and very clear. You can barely see the stuff! Which helps make up for it’s size, which is slightly thick. (I used it on my B-36 Peacemaker.)
And how many times can I use “which” in one post? [:D]
