Greetings to all! Because of the Battle of Britain GB, there have been several RAF models posted lately. Unfortunately I missed that some how, but coincidently I have been working on my first RAF kit, which is the Tamiya 1/48 Mk.Vb. Any of you that have built this kit knows it definitely falls into the box shaker catagory. What a great little kit. No fit problems to speak of and lots of nice detail.
This model was my first attempt at pre-shading, and I was generally pleased with, at least the under surfaces. MM enamels were free hand sprayed on the top side camo. Decals are AreoMaster depicting 92 Squadron, Biggin Hill, 1941 flown by FO Alan Wright. Colors are dk. earth, dk. green, over sky. I hollowed out the exhausts, and rigged the mast with a strand of my daughters hair. I also added PE belts. Everything else is OTB.
Thanks for letting me share the pics of my Spit. I hope you like it.
WOW…that turned out beautifully. I hope my mark IX is half as good. I agree that the pre shading turned out very well on the ventral side. Thanks for the pix.
Great job on the Spitfire. I especially like the detail on the rigging, that’s not easy to do. The weathering is subtle but effective and the paint work is excellent. I would really like to see a shot of the cockpit, if you have time in the future to post it.
Thanks Matthew,ww2boy,nmayhew,eight ace,blackwolf,dragonfire,mike,steve,and thad!
The good words are appreciated.
Steve,
I tried to get a decent picture of the CP, but I don’t have a macro lense and I just can’t seem to get in focus. After work tonight I’ll try again with some better lighting.
