I’m glad you guys like the 53 too. The 53 is my special “baby.” I served on them for 5 years. This old thread details its build for anyone interested:

Berny, thank you for pointing out that mistake. It’ll be easy to fix.
Edit: I fixed it, is that accurate

I’ll throw in some pics of the instrument panels. It’s the Eduard set.

Semper Fi,

very nice job well done it looks phabulous i have every 1/32 tamiya jet that they make except for this one. though i will have it soon [:)]
Very nice job, I am just starting to build this model. I just finished reading Gen. Olds’ new book (Fighter Pilot).
Just finished the book…great read. I was surprised when Olds basically called out Chappie James as a coward who avoided combat and then rode his coat-tails after every engagement…I’m building his AM 1/72 F4; great kit…
I was surprised about info regarding Chappie also. I don’t think either one of us knew Mr. James. I am sure it was true. I found the book to be very honest. I think coward is too strong. General Olds also said many good things about him, even years later.
No, I didn’t know him–or Olds; that’s why I bought the book.
He didn’t use that word but stopped just short IMO—he mentions it around three separate times so it must have been a “sticking point” with him…Maybe Olds was a little miffed that Chappie went on to 4 stars when he basically had his career ended with a promo to Brigadier…
