Was going down Navy Blvd today on my way to grab some lunch and Noticed a huge sign in BOSUNS LOCKER’s windows…GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE!
[:(][:0][:(][B)]
Now I stopped in there from time to time just to pick up some paints real quick as its the closest LHS near my house. He mainly specialized in ships which is why I never really shopped there a lot. But it’s still sad to see it going down…
i know how you feel Chris, my LHS closed down about 1 1/2 years ago (and its the only one in that town) the guy who owned it was killed in a motorcycle crash and his widow kept it open for a couple of years but her heart wasnt really in it so she closed the doors after having a sale. a real pity but i can see why he did it. It’s sad when a business has to close it’s doors. The town I live in had a LHS and I remember when it closed way back in 1984. My town hasn’t had a hobby shop since.

We need more people getting into the hobby. Don’t buy your kids video games, get them models!
My LHS closed about 4 months ago [:(]. Since then I just use Ebay for the kits and the internet for the paints and such. For a real hobby store I now have to go to Nashville Tn (about 50 mls). With the traffic and the crowds, it just isnt really worth it to me [V]
It’s a shame he wasn’t up here. I’d probably kept him in business myself. Gotta love those ships.
Went back home to Plattsburgh this weekend to see my mom for Christmas and went to their LHS that was so good…and remembered they had moved. So I went back home and asked mom where they were now and she said that a month after he had moved to the new place, he died. He didn’t seem all that much older than I was…so I am a bit shocked. He was a very friendly guy too…
although the internet is the best place for deals, there’s nothing like browsing through a brick and mortar LHS. I’m lucky to have a good one fairly close.
I like to use e-bay. That is how I got back into building models.

Yep, yep, yep.
Nothing like actually touching what you’re interested in.
Kinda like buying a new firearm. I was a licensed dealer for 10 years and if something new came out that I thought I might really want for myself? I’d go to the very next gunshow or to Tulsa or OKC to the bigger shops so I could actually fondle it first.
I’m the same way with models.
