another new guy

Hi all, just signed on. I’ve been a modeler for most of my life; I became serious about it when I turned 19. I started out with aircraft but now do armor, figures and dioramas. I competed heavily in the 80s and early 90s, winning around 150 awards and 18 Best-In-Shows. I still compete but on a much more limited basis. I had a diorama of mine published in the 1986 Tamiya Catalog (for those of you old enough to remember that one, it was the bridge diorama in the center section). Currently I am working on the Trumpeter K5 (E) kit. And I defy any of you airplane dudes to tackle a kit with 1140 parts! (just kidding).

WHOOOOOOWWWWWW…A real PRO

Welcome to the forums, link955!

Nice to have another “Tread Head” joining the ranks [}:)]

Welcome to FSM link955. Great to have another experienced modeller come and join us here.

I look forward to your posts in the Armour Forum and would love to hear about and see pics of your K5 build.

Enjoy the forums !!

Hi link. Good for you to come visit us. Hope you stay and share some of your experience to us.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome Link. Pretty impressive there, I’m not an airplane dude and I don’t think I could tackle something with that many pieces. By the time I got done my kids would have lost atleast 300 of them based on an average of 3 pieces per normal kit.

Greetings link , sounds like you might have some pretty good tips to share.

Just wanted to jump in and say thanks for the warm welcome guys (and gals). I hope to benefit from others’ experiences and I am happy to offer what I can to the group.

I’m sure I seen that catalog, link! I’ve been modeling a few years (or collecting as it were!) but I have been, & always will be, a pack rat so I’m positive that catalog is in the dusty regions of my abode somewhere! LOL

I have three kit from Pocher in Italt :the 1931 Alfa -Romeo Coupe Elegany, the !931 Alfa-Romeo "Dinner Jackt, and the 1932 Polls-Royce Drophead Saloon that have2900 parts. Factory says allow 9 months for the BASIC build. Welcome here!!
