Ok guys, based on your responses to my big Egyptian 1/32nd scale Mig 21 (thanks everyone for your kind responses) I’ve got another one for you. This one is the 1/48th Academy kit. I built this one before I built the 1/32nd kit. As you can see I have a thing for the mid-eastern desert camo schemes. This one is in Syrian markings. Not a lot of after market parts in this one either, again, I did use a resin seat and after market decals. I added some detail to the cockpit and canopy. One thing I like to do on the camo paint schemes is to paint the base color first, the base color on this kit is Model Master Sand flat enamel. I then use Xtra Color paints for the camo pattern. The Xtra Color paint is gloss enamel and it drys much slower giving me more control in my airbrush. By drying slower it tends not to clog up during spraying allowing a much smoother soft line between the colors. I then give the model a few coats of Testors clear lacquer gloss coat and apply the decals. The final finish is Testors flat coat. All paints are cut with a good quality automotive lacquer thinner.
