For all of you Armor forum folks who don’t visit the Group Build section, here’s a few shots of a Panther G that I just completed for the Big Cats Group Build. Depicts a Panther that was with Pz.Rgt26 that saw combat in Italy. This one’s got lots of field applied armor. There’s also side by side with the DML late Panther A that also depicts an Italian Panther. This build was finished previously, also for Big Cats Group Build. More photos of the G can be viewed on this page in the Group Build Forum (scroll down a bit):
That ranks up there as one of the best I’ve seen here and I’ve seen quite a lot of panthers. Really like the camo and weathering. It’s hard to tell in the photos, but the inner-wheel’s rims should be steel. Excellent job.
Very, very nice work on these tanks. They look used, but not abused. I’m going to bookmark this thread for future reference on camo and weathering. Great work!
Yes, it doesn’t show well in the photos. I initially painted the inner rims in a steel metallic paint and thought that was a bit too bright. In the end, I used a graphite pencil. It shows nicely by the naked eye but is subtle enough to get lost in the shadows in the photographs.
