Just completed this big 1/24 scale UH-1B as an out of the box build. Very nice for being a 1969 mold.
I used bleach to dechrome the rotor and rocket pod parts. Used Testors enamels and the included kit decals of the 1st Air Cav. Division of excellent quality.

Not bad at all! I’m wondering why the manufacturer would actually chrome plate main rotor components! The grey look that you have for the main rotor directional controls and the main rotor hub looks great. This is one area that I actually DO have some personal/ working knowledge of. I spent 8 plus years as a crewchief on a UH-1H Huey. Good stuff here bud![Y]

Looks pretty good, even with all the shortcomings of the kit. I can’t tell from the pics, but did you add the B pillar and ceiling padding details?
By the way, it is closer to a C model than a B model. It has a C model rotor hub with thinner, D model-like blades. It really is a mismatch of Huey types.

Thanks guys for the nice comments. This kit opens itself up for lots of super detailing. The guy I built it for just wanted it OOB and nothing fancy. It would have looked even better by doing the missing padding and top console, slicing off the molded belts and doing my own in foil, and opening up some engine panels to show off plumbing and wiring.

I hate to disagree with you HeavyArty but that is a Bravo M/R hub and grip assy all the way except it’s missing the counter weights on the grips. Here is a Charlie rotor head assy.
OK, I knew it it was off in some way. Still a less than accurate kit, pretty far off if you ask me.
I’m not that familiar with the particulars and most of the time models are a bit off here and there but it still provides a decent representation of the gunship. I’m happy with the end results, and the guy I built it for is even happier.
