I suppose it’s been at least a week since someone asked this, so I’ll take my turn: Does anyone know, or has anyone had word, about AMTech and their plans. And I mean real, solid prospects for releasing another kit? I see they have these ten “1/144” C-135 variants listed as future kits on their website, with photos of test shots (which are probably made from the old AMT C-135’s if I had to guess).
Many of us had high hopes they could make it work. But I’d really like to know if we’re ever going to see those 1:48 P-61/F-15 kits or any others. They don’t appear on any more web hobby dealers’ pre-order sections.
Can anyone shed light on AMTech’s prospects?
Thanks,
TOM
AMTech is a very small company which has had some setbacks due to sickness etc. This severly disrupted their operation.
A lot of modellers are hoping they are going to be able to continue as they did before but no one knows if they can.
I think their toast, but that’s just my guess.
Regards, Rick
I agree.
The last I knew, they tried saddling up with Hobby Lobby as their “exclusive” distributer for a while, and as we all know, not only would that be very limiting but Hobby Lobby can be very capricious as well as in determining which kits they will or not stock from one season to the next (just try and find newer Hobby Craft kits there anymore).
Also, they basically tried limiting themselves to “59 varities” of the same aircraft types (the P-40’s, JU-88’s, for instance) using the same tired old Ertyl moldings.
In one case, at my local hobby store, I can find their version of a JU-88 Mistel, sans the German fighter needed to pilot it, right next to the Italri kit of the same thing, only with the German fighter, and for less money to boot.
Go figure.
