AMT missing parts? Anyone else?

Hi All,

I bought an AMT 1967 Shelby GT 350 today at Hobby Lobby. A store I rarely go into.

It was missing the decals and clear parts. Has anyone else had a problem with missing parts from AMT kits? The date on the kit up. is July 2021.

It’s just infuriating. The store is not near me so I can’t just run down and get my money back.

The last AMT kit I bought is the International Pay Hauler dump truck. It was i believe factory wrapped. If your kit was not wrapped them it may have been a victim of theft. Perhaps you can contact Round 2 or AMT and see if the parts can be replaced, hopefully at no cost.

A long time ago I built the 24th scale Stuka from Airfix, it was missing wheel spats. Wrote them and they replaced the partd free, that was along time ago though.

It is unfortunate that QC fails, truely no excuse if it is electronicalky accounted for, frustrating but somewhat understandable if human hands are inventorying the final product. Bummer that happened and I hooe you can get it resolved.

Factory shrink wrapped intact on the shelf in store.

I contacted them. 3-4 weeks “Or longer” for parts.

If I bought this kit from Scale Hobbyist, I would have a new kit in less than a week.

I should have known better. HL is far from me, I just happened to go by one today and kits were 40% off.

You can return it to Hobby Lobby and they will give you a refund or even exchange. Then they put the kit on the clearance aisle. When, and if your parts come in, go back and buy the discounted kit.

I am not sure how Hobby Lobby’s customer service is, but maybe try contacting them and explain the situation. You may have to pay the shipping to return it, or they may have some other solution given your distance from the store. (though likely a long shot)

Don’t be fooled by shrink wrap. Many larger stores have a shrink wrap machine in the back room, and they use it to re-wrap returned merchandise. Makes it look fresh from the factory, and untouched by human hands. I used to work at a store that did this, and I thought it was pretty tacky.

Hi!

I have to use H.L. a lot ( it’s the only model source unless I want to drive 45 miles one way or 32 the other way.) With Gas prices being what they are ,well you guessed it! But that said, I have beeen dealing with this particular and base crew since about the 90s. No problems with exchanges or refunds!

No,I bought the Boyd Coddington 1997 cobra because I wanted to build a replica of my stolen/totalled mustang, opened this up and the hood and rear axles housing and the decals are all missing. My suspicion is people buy these kits, pull the parts they think they can make money on and in the end shaft the buyer for a few extra dollars they didn’t even make.Im a little upset because I wasted my time and can’t even complete it now and being its an older kit good luck getting replacements…
