Ok, I have my camera back from the repair shop so I can show you my Christmas gift completed.
This is the AMT/ERTL International Payhauler 350 at 1/25 scale and I really enjoyed the build. The kit is huge and there is a lot of details, I mean everything is there. The engine, the drive shafts, working hydraulic cylinders, cabin interior, etc… The build went on smoothly without major problems except for some ejector pin marks that wouldn’t be there if the kit was a today’s kit but this is a reissue of an early 80’s kit if I’m correct. So we can consider that kit a masterpiece cause the level of detail is very impressive.
Drybrushing with flat black, then slightly airbrush some hull red or flat brown around the brushed area to simulate rust stain on the paint. You’ll be surprised how easy it is.
Thanks for the kind words. I haven’t said my last words with this kit. I planned to put this on a base with a pickup truck next to it. I will load it up with gravel and I will dirt it up more also. Mud stuck in the threads of the tires is a nice idea and I will just do that.
That build is not 100% completed but I don’t know when I’m gonna finish it so …
maybe you should say 99.9% finished in your signature file i.o. 100% [(-D] Please post the pictures of the completed base / diorama. I am sure it will look nice looking at the results sofar.
Yes! Please!! Don’t leave us hanging Okay?! I really want to see the end results on this build too…Wow! I was at the LHS last week and he had just got this one in too! He had three of them and I had one in my sweaty hands looking and drouling on the Box Art too…Its huge! Ive been playing with 1:35th scale Light Armor trucks to long I guess… Thats a big truck thats forsure!.. Weathering is coming along just fine But please keep that camera working on it too as your working on the Pick up truck that going to be sittin along side of it…We really need to be seeing its end results…Thank You in advance so you’ll show it LOL…“RC”
Ha ha! Thanks for the comments. I’m not sure on when I’m gonna finish this. The build of the pickup truck have been very slow lately and I will start my other project in about two weeks. If I’m not done with this pickup before that, it will wait till next summer. But I’ll do it.
Actually, I went to a rock quarry not so far away from my home to take some pictures of the equipments that was there. Pretty usefull information and by a pure coinsidence, there was an engine in the repair shop. So I’ve been able to take reference pictures to help me in the process of adding all the wiring and plumbing. It doesn’T show very well on the pictures but all the hydraulic and pneumatic hoses are there along with electrical wires.
My digital camera was at the repair shop when I built this so I have no “work in progress” picture.[:(]
Yann, Can I just add to what everyone else has said her and say GREAT JOB. For me, when you have to do a double-take and make sure you are looking at a model, not at the real thing- that is when you know you are seeing a really professional job. I dabble in a little bit of buying/shipping/reselling on evil bay, and I have had my eye on this kit for a while. I think they will (re)sell well in Oz.
That’s incredible! What a great job! I’m about 90% done with the kit, and right now it’s pristine caterpillar yellow, but not after seeing yours! Have never tried weathering, but will learn soon.
