AMT/Ertl 73 Cougar Pro Touring

Here is an AMT/Ertl 73 Cougar from 2004 that I just built. It has a set of 21" resin wheels from Jays Resin Wheels. It has a lowered stance to go with the wired Boss 429. Paint is Testor’s Custom Red sprayed over metallic silver. Mr. Surfacer 1000 is the primer used on this one. The wheels are sprayed with Revell’s Chrome paint, and brushed on Gundam’s Phantom Gray.

Instead of the side exhaust pipes, I set up the exhaust as a cut-out style system. Had to overcome paint issues with the metallic silver base color. The custom red required two coats to cover fully and that made it darker than I was hoping for, still learning as I go, but overall I’m happy with the results on this one.

Whoa brother that is a great build inside and out. Paint looks great and all the details in the engine bay and interior are off the hook. I’d drive a 429 Cougar!

Thanks Keavdog. It was a fun build. The kit went together well as to fit and finish. Lots of flash to work through and detail like radiator hoses and rearview mirror were absent. Still, I would recommend the new release of this kit.

Nice build, that looks great.
