AMT/Ertl 1/72 B-52H

Hey, anyone have an AMT/Ertl 1/72 B-52H (the one in the box painted with the B-52H in dark camo, with landing gear extended-taking off) [?] that they can sell me for about $15-$20[:D], I am not sure exactly if I’ll get one here or on Ebay. Whichever comes first…Thanx, for your help!!![:p][8D][:I][;)]

Haven’t seen the H, but the last I heard of the molds, they had been taken over by AMTech and were being revamped for a new release. If that’s the case, I’d look for one of those if and when it’s available (it may already be out for all I know).
That little company reminds me in some ways of AccMin when they started out. Modelers making models for real modelers on a shoestring, and not charging half the price of the real thing for their kits. I haven’t been able to get another AMTech model since their first release, the P-40E (you have to love a company that catches an error in the fuselage, and offers every buyer a completely new fuselage for free), and though it had its moments of beginners shakiness, the decals were outstanding, the research was more than any other builder except AcMin (I’m talking American firms) bothers to do. I just like that company and hope they do well. BTW, did the P-61/F-15 Reporter come out yet?
Sorry, got off on a rant. Don’t know about the H, but not terribly long ago I found the G, and it was 27.95 at an art supply house that discounts nothing. Got an XB-70 for two bucks more at the same store and it’s been sitting against the wall (like the BUFF, it is enormous) waiting for nothing but a couple coats of white paint and the decals for more than two years. It was not the beast to fit that everyone made it out to be. I had surprisingly little sanding and fitting for a kit with such huge parts, same with the BUFF.
I was waiting for the AMTech BUFF, for one reason, to see how the handle the enormous task of finding and applying the right size wing walk stripes. A proper 1/72 scale B-52 needs about six feet of approximately 3/32" wide black striping. Tape is too thick, I couldn’t find the proper width decal tape, and my last shot, dry transfer striping, of course wouldn’t stick to Metalizer, no mater how much sealer was sprayed on it. If you doubt what a massive, intricate job this striping is, look at an overhead shot of a BUFF, then look at the horizontal tail, which has a labyrinth painted on it, and the wing root areas.
However, you asked a simple question and I wrote you a book that didn’t help at all. So getting back to the short and dirty answer, does anyone know if this AMTech story is true? If it is, awan, I would give up on Testors, with its shortcomings, and go with the kit after Amtech has done their magic on the old molds, with new instructions and new decals and more accurate painting and marking guides.

$15-$20? Good luck![:D] But you never know. As for the AMtech B-52H, Squadron still lists on their pre-order page but it was supposed to have been released a long time ago. Perhaps AMtech operates the same way as AMT/Ertl did. Months behind schedule.

Thanx for your guys’ help, I’ll keep looking. yep, I’m also waiting for the AMTech BUFF!!!

I’ve bought a couple of G’s and H kits off ebay and I’ve never seen them go for less than $40.00 dollars

There’s one on ebay now, currently for $36.00, item # 59387339382. It finishes up at 17:30 Sunday, Dec 5 (left coast time

I just found another B-52H item on ebay. It is a set of decals for modern day OPS in South West Asia, period 1996 through 2003. It covers Operation Iraqi Freedom and other activity in that area. Included are markings for BUFFS from Barksdale AFB, LA and from Minot AFB, ND. One of them is for #00001, the first H model BUFF built and which carried Memphis Belle II marks. See item # 5940635842. I just bought a set from this dealer.[^][:D][8D][alien][alien]
