Am building this model and came across the wheels and rubber tires. Not as advertised in the assembly instructions which show different Michelin tires with plated wheels and inner wheels.
Mine came with Goodyear rubber that has the rims in rubber as well and just the inner wheel to add. Looks like I must cut away lots of rubber flash as no outer wheel is present in the kit.
My question is… can one use these tires as such and add BareMetal Foil to the rubber spokes?
Thanks in advance for any help in this quandary. [:D[
Those plugs you see are not part of the wheels, they’re casting plugs that need to be removed. There should be a set of wheels on the chrome tree or unpainted plastic that are what you need. If you don’t have them, the parent company, Round 2, may can send you some.
Mississippivol - thanks for the help. I have looked and looked and they are not present. Guess I must have gotten this kit from an auction and someone scalped it.
Now I know how I might get ahold of Round 2. I found them on a Google search and they have a replacement parts form. Thanks so much. [:D[
Carlos - I guess for the same reason that you are following the Auto forum?? Ha! [whstl]
Actually I have a lot of nice auto kiys and they look like fun. Guess I must have bought that Dodge at the OCIPMS distressed kit auction and someone pilfered the outer wheels.

That one’s a nice exception!
Mississippivol - what I decided after looking at Round 2 Models was that they were unlikely to have the proper parts as the box art says 1994 and they say they only support back to 2008.
And now as i think about it, I think someone substituted both wheels and rubber in that kit.
So I started looking for my stash and !Ojala!, I have an extra set of wheels and rubber from a 1969 Camaro.
Now my question is ---- which set of rubber to use with those wheels? The ones on the left are Goodyear radials, while the right side are Goodyear Polyglass GT L60-15.
Anybody got an opinion? [Y][N][*-)] Thanks for all the help.
Cheers, Jake
I take it you got that kit in a trade. You got ripped off. Those are not the kit tires. The other tires will not work either. The kit tires are Michelin XGT Zs. I may have some Goodyear gator backs that may work. It’ll take me a few days. I can’t help with the wheels. Those Camaro ones are completely wrong.
Well it goes beyind accuracy. I highly doubt the Camaro parts will fit.The axle stubs on the viper parts probabably wont fit the Camaro parts. The two kits are engineered diffrently. I know, I have both kits in my stash. I suggest you go over to Scale Auto Magazine’s forum or Model Car Magazine’s forum and put up a posting asking for the parts you need. If I had them I would be glad to send them, but both my Viper kits are ones in the to build pile.
Yes, Lee - I now see what you mean as I have dry-fit the axles. Thanks for the help. Looks like my wheels have 4.3mm inset which may not be enough. Think I will try taking off the disc brakes as they are going to be hidden in the rims anyway. Hope that is enough extra room, as I really don’t want to belabor this kit.
Jake, there is plenty of AM stuff out there as far as wheels and tires for car kits. I think that it’s Pegasus Hobbies that makes a line of stuff locally. I’ll bet that they make someth8ng that can work for you.
Carlos - yes, and I can buy a new kit for $18 on eBay but I am stubborn and unwilling to add to my mistake of bidding at those auctions. So I will try to make it work first. As is, I am having trouble making the struts work out, too … It may go in the bin [N]
