That car turned out pretty dang spiffy there Tom. Great shine on that paint job and really like the color.
Hats off to you for a good wrap up on this one.
Looks awesome! The 30’s -40’s produced some beautiful automobiles in this country. That shade of blue with the tan interior and those black wall tires all look period correct to me.
That came out really nice. What did you think of the kit? It seems that Revell and AMT are the only place to find classic american cars and AMT has the cars that are not hot rods.
Thank you Mustang1989. Yes, the paint turned out better than I deserve. I usually have to paint autos twice. The first time for practice and the 2nd time for real. I originally painted it Testors (little bottle) blue over dark blue fenders, thinking a two tone would be nice. The “blue” didn’t look right so I stripped everything off and painted the whole thing using Tamiya Lacquer. Next time I won’t try to be so clever and I’ll start with Lacquer in the beginning.
Thank you Mr Tom S. Cars and trucks from the 40’s and 50’s cars are my favorite. I guess it’s because I saw so many when I was growing up.
Thank you NukMed. I concur with your observation about classic American car kits. The AMT, Revell and Lindberg kits are OK, but not great. You’re right to say they’re the only game in town. The chrome parts are clumsy and overall parts fit just a little bit less than good. The guy who engineers the glass (windshields and other clear parts) has a lot to answer for. I like to think he was given plans for a different kit than the one everyone else was working on.
