I don’t know how old these pics are, but I was amazed that anybody got out of this with their skin, let alone landing the planes. I guess any landing you can wlalk away from…
Story goes that these to pilots were executing a head on pass and got a little too close.
Pilots will have a lot of explening to do.

That’s crazy! that remids me of the Snowbird crash a while ago.[BH]
Beleive it or not, the plane that crashed was a snowbird we had at our airshow. I sat in the plane, and shook hands with the pilot I think died.[:0]
Sad stuff, but lucky they both landed!
I actually read a Reader’s Digest article about this, actually containing these exact pics! It was a long, long time ago, but it was a very interesting read. I remember something about a head-on pass being the cause, but that wasn’t the whole story. Sorry I can’t elaborate, but I thought I should input my two cents.

It’s a small miracle that both pilots survived.

Here is a nasty one also. An F-15 that landed with one wing. It is really hard to believe that aircraft damaged as badly as these can still land. A good showing from the pilots of these birds.
