Aluminum foil

I’m trying to get myself to do a metal finish.
I’ve seen good results using aluminum foil…

What is used to adhere the foil to the model?

Thanks!!!

Bare metal foil is good stuff but take a look at this site

alclad2.com

Best looking paint I’ve ever seen!

Contact cement is the usual adhesive when folks use aluminum foil. It is a bit tricky. Some folks do get good results, but it takes some real skill. One problem is that the foil most of us can get our hands on is pretty thick and will not nestle down into fine detail very well.

Consider Bare Metal Foil. It already has a pressure sensitive (contact) adhesive applied, and is very thin. However, even so, it takes some practice. Use a few small pieces on scrap plastic before you start on model. Biggest trick is seperating it from backing paper without wrinkling and creasing it.

I have gone to Alclad finish applied with airbrush- much easier than the tricky work with BMF. I use the later only for small parts now, not an entire aircraft.

Bare Metal Foil also makes an adhesive. I’ve never used the stuff, but here’s a link to their website. The adhesive is at the bottom of the page.

Thank you all!!!

I’ve got some Bare-Metal Foil…it just seemed “thick” to me…

Off I go…
