Alouette iii 316-b heller 1/72

Hi guys,

The Heller kit of the ALOUETTE III is not an easy build and lacks detail but I tried to enhance it, spending a hundred hours of work on this project.

First, I added scratch built seats at the rear of the cockpit where they were missing, also fitting seatbelts made of masking tape.

Cutting the canopy enabled me to open the left rear door and using KV Model masks was a great help.

The power plant, the winch and the rotor were detailed with copper and lead wire; lenses gave a more realistic look to headlight and navigation lights and I used guitar wire to modify the antennas and Pitot tube.

Period photos helped me to scratch build a portion of the landing deck of the Clemenceau Aircraft Carrier used as a display base, to which I added two modified CMK figurines.

Nice job! And in 1/72!!! Whew. It would be nice to see a new release/mold of these helos (prefer 1/48). The old Fujimi were 1/50th if I recall. AMP did a new 1/48 Gazelle and I grabbed one. Hopefully we’ll see an Alouette as well.
The scratch built carrier deck is just awesome!

Nicely done. Your improvements really hit the mark! Nice idea of using masking tape for the seat belts.
