I have heard good things about it.does it stand up to enamel and oil washes ? And if so,how long to cure before washing or filtering ?
Anybody got any info on this ???
I have been using the Alclad clears for over a year now. They are lacquer based so enamels or oil washes won’t affect them. Same as any other paint, I usually let it dry overnight before I do anything over it.
I have been using the Alclad Klear Gloss, which is an acrylic clear. It works great for coating things before using oil washes. I used it to coat the cockpit of a 1/32 Bf-109G-6 and will be using it as a sealer on the exterior before weathering.
Update After some thinking that I referenced the wrong Alclad product, I went home last night and checked the bottle to make sure I was talking about the right product. I was mistaken, the product I was referring to is the Alclad Aqua Gloss, this is the acrylic clear that I use before weathering. Sorry for any confusion. [:^)]
Thank you sounds good, some have said it is very dead flat finish.
I have been using Alclad Klears for a few months now. I have not done any washes on them, but I have been really pleased with the finish. they do both a Matt and a Flat, depending on how flat you want it.
Not used the flat. The gloss lacquer and the extra sheen lacquer take forever to cure. You can tell they aren’t because they are still sticky to the touch. The Aqua gloss is amazing.
If you read the label of Alclad Klear Kote Flat ALC 314 it states “Contains Mineral Spirits”. This puzzled me cause I thought it was a lacquer product, so I shot an email to Alclad asking if I can use lacquer thinner to thin it. Their answer was not to use anything harsh like lacquer thinner but plain mineral spirits.
