Alan's Panzer I Ausf. F finished pics

hey guys, this is the Alan panzer I Ausf.F built oob i always loved the look of these vehicles kind of like a baby Tiger, as usual i kinda went to town a bit on the weathering but i cannot help myself i just like them that way, the kit was fun to build without any major problems, painting was done with MM acrylics and weathered with oils, thanks for looking and feel free to comment in any way.

[party] You should go to town often. [:O] Look what you brought back. [tup]Looks just super.

Steve

Looks mighty impressive for it’s size Ron! A little over the top with the weathering for my tastes, but that’s just MY taste! You’re right about it lookin like a mini tiger! Is this going into a dio?

I swear,it just amazes me how you get these things to look like they are actually made out of steel. How do you do it?

Another amazing looking build. I have steered clear of the Alan kits, how was it to build? Many problems? Great Job I really like your very weathered tanks.

I’ve built a couple of Alan kits.Just test fit everything first and you should be OK.There may be a few flaws, but they build up nice.

Biffa,

You’ve been quiet for quite some time and you surprised me with great build. I really love those early WWII german armors.

I LOVE IT, that is the look I try to end up with. real, time honered combat veteran

keep it up

What a nice little bugger. I like the textures and weathering effects, it does look like real steel. You have a real talent to turn a medium quality kit into a masterpiece.

Nice job.

Nice model! I started tooling around on mine a few years back – I may have to dig it out and finish it!

It has a real “warcraft” type look too it! Mean and stocky!

That thing looks very cool! Outstanding job on the weathering!

Another great build! [8D] [tup] [tup]

As usual Ron your weathering techniques shine through on this one. Just a couple of points/curiosity, the weathered spot on the turret on the left side seems kind of large in relation to the rest of the vehicle, trick of the camera or intentional? I might also suggest highlighting a bit more the track faces since this one’s got so much visible track area but that’s again just a personal taste issue. Congrats on taking another so-so kit and making it look good. [tup]

That looks really cool Ron, I like the “faded” Panzer Gray, you really nailed it. The armor has a perfect “textured” look to it. I would have liked to have seen a PE fire extinguisher bracket on this little guy, the kit part detail looks a little soft. It seems on these smaller vehicles the storage and pioneer tool detail dominate the eye. Another classic…

regards,

Steve

Wow thanks for the terrific response guys i appreciate it, Alan kits are definatly not the best there is but far from the worst as well, for the most part they will fit together ok if you just take your time and as TD4438 said dry fit everything the worst thing about them is the details are a bit clunky in places as Crockett mention they all could use a little added detail work but the best thing about them is the subject matter they do some very oddball kits and i like that.

For me i have some kits that i intend to detail but i have a large amount that i intend to build oob just for the fun of painting them up without worrying about messing up a kit i just spent weeks building and this was one of those builds, TD4438 i spend probably more time painting and weathering a kit than actually building it lol it may not be the weathering it may just be old by the time its finished [(-D]

Roy i agree on the “warcraft” look i always thought it looked futuristic or something.

Bill, lol i have adopted the Bob ross approach to painting now there are no mistakes anymore just “Happy accidents” and as such when i made two “happy accidents” on the still uncured turret they magically turned into damaged areas from some imagined urban warfare,

Jm i got most my Alan kits of ebay cheap if thats the case they are ok but i have also seen them for sale in the $30+ range and i dont really think they are worth that if there is an alternative.

Steve, {disastermaster} i have lost count of my build count buddy and since my PC crash last month i have no way of checking [:)] hope your still on the ball.

James i will be the first to stand up and say i go overboard when weathering i just cant help myself i just really love that look [:)] every kit i build is intended for a dio lol im about 60 behind so far i cant bring myself to do it with all these kits i have to build.

Thanks again all, Ron.

hiya ron[:D]-- did you read the thread on criticism?–Pros + Cons of?-- anyway, as I usually do when I view your work, ‘[tup][tup]’–I am neither a butt kisser or graveler-- I like what I like-- period – no one can take that from me-- I like your work dude and have learned much from you – thank you-- the panzer I ausf. F is a sharp looking build excellently executed-- on a personal note, i would kinda liked to see a commander figure to give scale to the smallness of the panzer I… Great Great job… Threadwell

Steve

Hey Tread, yea i did read the thread on criticism but to be honest i dont think myself qualified to criticise anyone, i just like to build models and paint them for my own satisfaction and shelf and in the process like to share with other modelers, im no expert on any vehicle and like you i just comment on how i like what i see, criticism about my work doesnt bother me at all and i will generally agree with the person because i know my interpretation of how i want something to look can sometimes be out there lol and i accept that but in the end for me its about enjoying what i do and sometimes in the process of that i get to help someone out by sharing alternative methods of acheiving certain looks.

I always appreciate your comments as i do everyones and i make a point of always saying “all” comments are welcome or feel free to comment in “any” way when i post my models because i want people to be honest.

I dont do figures because im terrible at them heh [(-D]

Thanks as always Tread.

LOL thats cool you have the list, #9 is close to finished had a slight mishap in the shape of a 6ft fumble but finally got all the pieces glued back together and paintwork touched up and will have a full step by step pictorial up untill the fateful fall and an explaination there after heh.

Thanks for that Steve i can copy the list now so i will have it for future reference [:)]
