Airfix Saturn V Colour

DJ, all the yellow areas on the Saturn V was pristine. Aside from some oxidized areas on the exposed Stage One engine bells, everything about the craft was beautifully mainted on display. Not dirty at all. I’d suggest good old FS Insignia Yellow.

Mick, I’ll get more photos posted later today.

That’s fantastic Stik, you’re a legend.

Thank you very much indeed.

Mick.

You’re quite welcome Mick. I’ll get the LEM photos posted soon.

Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) aka “The Spider”

When my boys were littleish but old enough to have fun with ( now in mid latter 40’s) we built flying rockets. I used Krylon paint on them fwiw. I hear Krylon formulation has changed since those day but just thought I’d mention it.

Thanks again Stik, this is great information to go on.

Am I the only one that just got a few weeks worth of FSM forum messages at once?

I just got the “dump” also.

Thanks for letting me know, didn’t think it was this end.

Cheers.

I just stumbled accross this website because of the photos in the this thread–some amazing photos.

Your Saturn V rocket looks amazing! It looks like you used silver for the fins and lower part of the fairings. What color are your F1 engines?

I think it was Alclad steel.

Aside from a decal set, the kit was built without any aftermarket. The CSM and LM “garage” are undersized, but I just detailed the SM as best as I could and called it a day. The escape tower truss was refined but not corrected.

Thank you so much!
