Do you recommend it?..
out of the two B26 models that i have done (airfix and matchbox) it was the best. it built fairly well and had a nicely detailed bomb bay too. Greg
The Airfix kit is fairly well done, considering it’s age. There are PE sets for it, if you can locate them. Builds up nicely.
Of the five 1/72 B-26s (Frog, Revell, Monogram (Snap-Tite), Matchbox, and Airfix), the Airfix is the best. The Frog offering isn’t even worth buying for parts, the Revell has lots and lots of rivets, The Matchbox has lots and lots of canyons, The Monogram kit has good basic outline but needs lots of detailing (and is hard to find), leaving you with the Airfix kit, which is relatively easy to find and with very little work can be turned into a very good model.
Hope this has helped.
Raised panel lines, but plenty of detail inside. Good stuff!
I built the Airfix 1/72 B-26 over 25 years ago, and the real mold might designed even way earlier. Nevertheless, it is still a fine kit, at least at that time. It came with a full bomb bay interior with bombs. Of course cockpit interior is simple. but you can hardly see anything when canopy is closed.
Hasegawa release the B-25 recently so may be, just may be it could release a B-26 later hopefully. Until then, Airfix’s B-26 is the best you can get.
thanks, it cost 10euros, about 7,5 stlg, 12 .5 $…i guess it is a fair price.
I will give it a shot, it has a nice nose art by the way and can snatch a few bomb stensils along the way…
