Airfix’s 1/48 Emil builds up into a very nice model with not to much work or additions needed ans is huge improvement on their older kits.
My one is the Airfix club version which comes with decals for an Emil in RAF or Japanese markings.
I went for the Japanese one as the mix of Hinomarus and Splinter camouflage looks just plain odd! I like odd. [:P]
No after market parts , just good 'ol fuse wire, foil and styrene to make up little details like the seatbelts, cockpit light and some engine bay plumbing.
Vallejo paints were used throughout, I tried out the Vallejo model air range for the first time with this kit and I must say I’m a convert!
I’m not such a big fan of Airfix nor 109’s, but I really like this sheme!
I allways hesitate when I see this box, but seems like it is worth the price.
Darn, another one which will have to be put onto ‘the list’.

That is definately an interesting scheme for the 109. I’ve got an airfix 109 in the stash too and wasn’t entirely convinced by the half engine block in the front but that looks good.
I can’t help it I just have to ask. Is that your hand and bracelet displaying the underside of the 109? I didn’t think female modellers existed…
That’s a sweet looking 109 there. I like the scheme. Not something you see everyday.
I built the E7 Trop that came out a couple of years ago. I was leery of Airfix but the LHS owner said it was a nice kit for the price. It went together like a dream. Maybe not the most detailed, but fit was flawless.
Thanks all for the kind comments. It is a very good kit for the money and provides quite a few bits for the spares box too. The new releases coming out of airfix are a huge improvement over the old stuff. The only thing I corrected was to shorten the oleos by 1mm, but that’s standard for most kits. I would quite confidently recommend this kit to a beginner since it just falls together. And yes I’m one of those rare female modelers, my Dad introduced me to models when I was 8 and I’ve been hooked since. And my barbie dolls had the best paint jobs on the street…!
