OHFFF, this is one hell of a kit! I was commissioned to build this monster today.
Airfix model company took over 10 months of research on their new 1/24th scale Mosquito, it was released in January.
The kit has 617 parts and when put together will produce a airframe with a wingspan of 688mm (27’) and a length of 545mm (21.5"). This has to be close to the record size for any plastic model aircraft.
The Airfix 1/24 ‘Mossie’ kit can be built as two version, the FB.VI Fighter Bomber version and the NF.II version which served as a Night Fighter.
Once I start assembly process I’ll also start up a webshots log to show progress. OHHHHH I can’t wait to get into this monster.
I’m just finishing up the NX-01 Enterprise model with light and special detail - ANY Start Trek Fans?
Maybe the record for mass produced model. But james May holds the record for a 1:1 scale plastic moulded Spitfire. I saw this monster around and wondered if it was worth the price tag. Looking faward to seeing the WIP shots
Very interested in this kit, can’t wait for the WIP’s! Stashed away 3000 miles away is my Tamiya 1/48 Mosquito[:(] One day my stash and I will be reunited![:D]
CG or not I was a little intimidated by the kit ,that put it into a better perspective , kinda like when I do artwork for my customers. www.coolneon.net
I am very interested in the 1/24 Mossie, but at its current price, I’ll stay away. Can’t wait for WIP pics. Currently building a Tamiya 1/48 PR Mk IV Mossie.
Anyone interested in this kit should keep an eye out over at the Hyperscale Airfix group build. Pete Mortlock is documenting his build and the details he is adding. Here is a link to his latest post… http://www.clubhyper.com/forums/groupbuildframe.htm
I followed the link b ut it seems to me they are working on a smaller version, can you do me a favor and like the right talk, I must be missing it. MY email is jbgroby@charter.net
Well it was $240 at my LHS so it must be getting close to $300 in Kiwi currency. My LHS guy asked me did I get a chance to check it out while it was on the shelf. I go in every week and I didnt see it, so it must have moved pretty quick. Mind you, they (LHS) dont seem overly optimistic if they are only ordering one at a time.
