Airfix 1/24 Hawker Harrier ???

Howdy guys!

How is the older 1/24 Airfix Hawker Harrier kit… Is it worth the effort and is there any aftermarket stuff like decals, PE or resin sets?

When you say older, do you mean GR1 or GR3?

I am just about to start building a 1/24 Spit 1 and the Harrier
The Harrier is a 30 year old kit, so the mould looks a little tired , but the pegasus is very well detailed and I am really looking forward to building it.
I have dry fitted the fuselage halves and if the fit is anything to go by it should be a sweet build.
I will have to do a search for 1F or 233OCU markings, 4Sqn - forget it!.
All I need now is a 24th scale Herc Mk3 to load it on!
As far as PE and resin goes,I only spent £20 on the kit and £52 + p&p for a detail set is a bit over the top.

If space wasn’t an issue I’d be building this kit, as i is I’m doing the 1/48 little brother, but anyway, its a great kit, old but as Oggy says, not too shabby at all.

The only area really lacking in detail from memory is the Mk9/10 Ejector seat, its pretty appaulling and you will need to either a) scratchbuild a lot of detail or b) get an aftermarket seat

the 24th Heap has a surprisingly small presence, the span is short and the fuselage is quite short.

I was based at Wittering from '88 to '90 and we used to load a GR3 fuselage and mainplane on a single Herc C3 and send them to Belize.

I got the kit (the latest release) from www.modelsforsale.com for £20.

Hi Papa i built this kit about a year ago , there are some after market things for it , but i don’t think its worth the £50 for it though , I did the RAF version which ment cutting the nose off and putting the other nose on , you get 5 sets of decals , US marines , RAF, Spanish navy , Thai airforce , and i think there was a Royal navy set , you can do 2 different version , airforce and the sea harrier , hope this helps i’ll try find the link for the after market stuff for you

I think its the older kit from the 70’s? like the mpc U.S. version. If it is… the molds should be ok.

A friend is offering the kit to me and here is a pic…What version and how old is this kit?
