i am currnetly working on a F-18f and i am at the point of going nuts. the paint scheme i am using is 36320 topside and 36375 for the bottom side. the stencil data that i have for the top is so darn light i cant make head or tales of the data when applied. is it navy policy to use a lighter shade for stencil data on the top sides of navy aircraft? also anybody got any suggestions on the “no step” markings i got a bunch of them to put on but thier to light that you cant read them at all thanks rob.[:D][:D]
First a query: Are the decals for the paint scheme you are painting? It sounds to me like they may be for an early paint job. If not, you may wish to buy Aeromaster F-18 stencils if your kit is 1/48, they are ment for the low-vis paint job.

Ga.modler, on the legacy Hornets (-A thru -D) the stencil were a ligher color. I don’t know what the FS # on them is but they rarely were visible after a couple of months anyway. Well, at least for CVW-5. I’m sure a lot of airdales in here will agree w/ me, though. The Prowlers, Tomcats, Intruders, Corsairs and all those navy a/c are washed w/ Tercol (sp) which is supposed to be a mild acid. Ask anyone whose washed a bird with the stuff not cut properly how mild it is! - Calvin
