AIRCRAFT OF THE WEEK (P-47 Thunderbolt)

WOW, now I will have to get a Jug. Those are great looking pictures.
Great builds all.

Don’t give me an old Thunderbolt.
She gave many pilots a jolt.
She looks like a jug
and she flies like a tug,
Don’t give me an old Thunderbolt.

(Wonder how long before I get the whole song posted?)

Kurt

Very nice builds Wayne. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Gota love starting a work week looking at all these Thunderbolts.
Here is my entry.

A little late, but here’s my 2nd 1/72 scale effort, coincidentally, a P-47.

http://www.dmancini.com/pictures/planes/P-47/

It’s the Tamiya “Warbirds” razorback, and it’s a fantastic model. Almost zero filler needed, decals snuggle din just fine with Micro-set, etc.

I am falling in love with 1/72 scale planes - perfect for display and quick to build.

Hi all,

Here is my effort of the P-47. Tamiyas built straight out of the box. This was actually my first aircraft I did after getting back into the hobby after 10-15 years - great kit !

Great builds Guys. Love looking at all these Jugs [:)]

Here’s an early T-bolt kit. This is the old Revell 1/72 kit with ABT markings of the 1st Grupo de Caca of the Brazilian Air Force in WWII.

Nice build Keyworth. Really like the markings.

Here is my P-47, I’ve just finished yesterday. Well not realy, I still have to make the antena wire. [:)]
This is the Tamiya 1/48, Great kit.

Looks really nice Daniel. Did you use the kit decals?
Leon

Nice work Dan

Thad

Thanks guys, this is my first kit after 2 years without building anything

Yes, there are two options for decals, Little Chief and Spirit of Atlantic City.

Very nice build Dan. Are those the kit decals ?

Regards, Rick

Always glad to see the 56th FG’s birds represented. Good job,Dan.

Wow amazing Thunderbolts everyone, This topics turn out was even better than the last. But I fear that the next topic might not get as big a response as I belive the B-36 won for next weeks feature, Great aircraft, My only worry Is though I dont think alot of people have built them, Which will mean not alot of model pics[:(] But on with the show.

About the decals, yes they came with the kit. There are two options :
The box art represents Lt. Frank Klibbe’s “Little Chief”, 56th FG, 61st FS, Halesworth, UK. March 1944.
The other one is Capt. Walker Mahurin’s “Spirit of Atlantic City”, 56th, 63rd FS, Halesworth, UK. March 1944
As all Tamiya’s decals, this are a little thick, but I managed to do a good job on the big decals using Future, but the smaller ones the film is quite visible from some angles.
Here is a pic of the decal sheet.

Heres a recent build of the Tamiya 1/72 Razorback in the early marking scheme for Little Chief. Decals from EagleCal.

Thanks Thad.

Hey, since I’m new to this forum, thought I might add a comment or two. I’ve been playing around with modeling for a couple of years now. My favorite ww2 fighter is also the P-47. I’ve been working on a Revel 48 D Razorback off and on for awhile. My results are nothing like you guys are posting. Great looking “Bolts”, keep up the good work. gabreski
