Hi yall, I was wondering if yall knew any good airbrushes to buy at a fair price and that work well. For a while I have just been brush painting model vehicles and that, well has come with its challenges. Any tips and recommendations would also be appreciated
let me know if you find a good one! I am also looking for one!
Hey guys, you will find this guy very helpful for making your choice.
Once you decide on one, just Google around for prices.
Gaahleri airbrushes will surprise you for the money. I wasn’t expecting much for the price, $40 but, my GHAD-39 works awesome. It atomizes and sprays very well and is super easy to clean. I got one to use as a primer brush but, I tried shooting paint with it as well and it didn’t disappoint. I ended up getting a second one.

In the past I had good luck with the “inexpensive” Iwata Neo from Hobby Lobby but they no longer have the 40% off coupon and they don’t even carry the Iwatas anymore. So in the future I’ll be looking for a new airbrush too.
I absolutely love IWATA brushes. I’ve had mine since 2014 and have only replaced the needle twice. It’s logged 1,000s of hours. They are definitely on the higher priced side but so worth it.
For a single action airbrush I’d recommend the Paasche H. I do 99% of my airbrushing with it and they are pretty affordable.
I got this as a spare to my eclipses-cs, I’ve used it a few times and it works great. Easy to clean and I have it a shot because people were raving about it on other forums.
YouTube reviews are giving the GSI CREOS great reviewed comparing it to the IWATA. They are much less expensive by $400. They are also made in the same Japanese factory as the IWATA.
Hey guys, if you’re still hunting for a solid Gaahleri deal, their Black Friday sale is live across pretty much the entire site right now.
I’ve been using their gear for a while, I own the Mobius .3, and Mobius .2, and both have been awesome for minis and bigger models. If you have any questions about them, feel free to ask.
Also, my link gives first-time buyers an extra 20% off on top of the Black Friday sale, so it might save you a good chunk: the discount code applies at checkout
I unboxed the GHAD-39 today. I bought it on sale, and I also have an additional 10% discount code if anyone’s interested. It works on everything, even sale items.

After watching Warrick’s videos on YouTube about airbrushing and airbrushes, I bought the Harder & Steenbeck Ultra 2024 from Midwest. See harder airbrush dot com (no spaces) for more information. This is a good video introduction: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnZRsKTOV4k] I ordered the combo with a Sparmax TC-620X air compressor as the attached air tank should reduce cycling. I have quite a stash accumulated since the mid-1980s with projects, and I think I need a home with more space!
Do you already have a compressor? If not, the Gaaleria small desktop compressor that also comes with an airbrush for about $70 is where I started this year and they work pretty well. I found that I wanted a finer tip airbrush so I have since added to the fleet but for the money, that started kit is really hard to beat.
That is a very nice Airbrush, especially for the money. Hard to justify over $100 on an airbrush for what we do in my opinion.
A new compressor and airbrush just arrived. The airbrush has a floating nozzle. And all this for a relatively low price.
You should love that, I do mine. I’ve built 2 and 7/8 aircraft with it and, though I did upgrade the airbrush to one of their premium brushes, I still have the one that came with it.
I started with a Badger 350. Single action, siphon fed, very old school, and quite simple to master. I used mine for probably 20 years until it was pretty well worn out.
Love the camo on that Mig
Thanks Tony. The MiG is one of my favorite paint jobs that I did with that airbrush. No expensive brush needed to pull off something like that. Just practice practice practice, like anything else in this hobby. The more you do it, the better that you’ll get.
